Zálom, Pavel ; Tůma, Oldřich (advisor) ; Cuhra, Jaroslav (referee)
My bachelor thesis "The influence of historical circumstances on the activity of the Slovak factor and its role in the election of Gustav Husak to the head of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia - Comparison with the election of Alexander Dubcek" intends, through analytical and comparative methods, to approach the influence of historical circumstances on the effect of the Slovak factor in the election of Gustav Husak to the position of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in April 1969. The reason is that the author studied the literature related to this issue and lacked a text that would be devoted to these themes in more detail. Based on the analysis of the election of Alexander Dubcek to the leading position in the Party in January 1968, within which the influences emphasizing the effect of the Slovak factor are evident according to the author's opinion, three comparison ranges - saturation, coercion and conflict range - were defined. Based on these ranges the examined factors of the election of Husak were identified. Basic terms - a thematic content of the comparison ranges as well as the Slovak factor itself - will be characterized closer and explained in the text. By using this method, author concludes that the key factors that significantly...

Pecáková, Andrea ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Štoll, Martin (referee)
The thesis titled "The TV program of the Czechoslovak television from the year 1968 till April of 1970" deals with the program offer from the period of so-called Prague Spring until the end of April 1970 when the second transmitter circuit was ready to start. I chose this time period because of frequent changes in politics and society, which was reflected in the media content, and thus in the TV content. This time segment is divided into four time periods in which I monitor the program offer of the TV. The first period is the period of Prague Spring, the second one is from September 1969 to April 1970 when Gustáv Husák became the first secretary of the ÚV KSČ, the third one is from May 1969 to August 1970 when Jan Zelenka became the director of Czechoslovak television (he was considered as the first normalization director) and the fourth period is from September 1969 to April 1970, when the second transmitter circuit was ready to start. The main aims of this thesis are detailed description and comparison of TV offers in these four periods. To achieve the objectives a comparative analysis is used. I analyze mostly weekly magazines Československá televize of the years 1968, 1969 and 1970. The information gained from these magazines is accompanied by other written sources, pictorial records programs...
Gustáv Husák in a Cause of the Slovak Bourgeois Nationalism
Macháček, Michal ; Rychlík, Jan (advisor) ; Doskočil, Zdeněk (referee)
The thesis deals with the Czechoslovak communist politician Gustáv Husák in connection with the cause of the Slovak bourgeois nationalism. It is structured chronologically, sometimes interspersed with thematic areas. It draws from a wide variety of sources. The prevailing approach is positivistic and analytical. The aim is to explain the emergence of the cause of the Slovak bourgeois nationalism and the way in which Husák was incorporated into it. The work points to a pivotal link with the international context and reveals poor relations between leading Party officials. Furthermore, the thesis raises issues of Husák's political fall, fabricated charges, imprisonment and subsequently the complexity of the rehabilitation process, at the end of which Husák's Communist Party membership was restored and a further political career remained a possibility. Additionally, the text tries to consider to a large extent the social relations between different participants and understand their motives of behavior. All of this is also put into perspective with respect to Czech-Slovak relations, which were significantly influenced by the aforementioned cause. The intention of the work deliberately exceeds the biographical theme.

Nekvasilová, Lucie ; Kraus, Jiří (advisor) ; Šoltys, Otakar (referee)
Diploma thesis "Husák, Havel, Klaus: New Year's speeches of prezidents in time changes" deals with the traditional New Year's speeches of the last three Czech and Czechoslovak presidents Gusáv Husák, Václav Havel and Václav Klaus. It compares them in the terms of rhetoric and pragmatic linguistic, focusing on their structure, style and applied topics. It also monitors whether and how the presidents in their festive speeches responded and referred to each other. The aim of the thesis is to find out how the presidential New Year's speeches reflected personal experience of the speakers and the circumstances under which these festive speeches were formed. A view behind the scenes of the New Year's speeches is to be revealed by a short survey among the closest associates of presidents. The thesis follows the festive presidents speeches in written form, does not deal with their television or radio appearances. It also contains biographical data of all three heads of the state, with emphasis on their rhetorical skills and experience. Part of the work is also devoted to the history and systematic classification of New Year's presidential speeches in general.
